US Navy SEALs Gear and Navy SEAL Equipment

As in any other professional field, US Navy SEALs require several specialized tools to get the job done.

The SEALs have an impressive arsenal to fit any scenario. From their clothing, weapons and diving gear to the vast array of vehicles at their disposal...the US Navy SEALs are by far the best outfitted soldiers in the world.

Navy SEALs operate in a variety of demanding and challenging circumstances. From the water, air or land, SEALs must adapt to any surroundings using teamwork, training as well as their high-tech vehicles and gear.

From high-altitude free fall parachutes, stealthy maritime vessels and desert or arctic camouflage clothing, SEAL operations require a varied choice of gear to assist them in performing their missions successfully and to come home alive.

US Navy SEAL missions almost always require clandestine silence through whatever terrain they may encounter. It is common for SEALs to require clothing for varying tasks in different climates.

If a mission requires a SEAL to swim to a position via the shore then he will need gear for extremely cold temperatures --- but it must accommodate a shift in temperature when the SEAL reaches land.

Standard in a Seal's inventory of equipment would be; the MK-15 which is a specialized scuba diving system designed to recycle exhaled breath passed through a chemical filter which removes carbon dioxide and replenishes the oxygen that is consumed. This device allows the SEAL to remain submerged for several hours.

The CRRC (Combat Rubber Raiding Craft) is a heavily reinforced rubber inflatable boat. This raiding craft is designed for speedy and quiet transport to positions. Light and easily handled by a squad, the Combat Rubber Raiding Craft is often called a "rubber duck" by SEAL team members.

SUVs (SEAL delivery vehicles) are small, submersible craft designed to propel SEALs further and faster through the water. Additionally, underwater time is extended to a SEAL through use of breathing facilities available on board. These vehicles relieve SEAL team members of the need for their own oxygen breathing apparatus while on board. These vehicles featureSEALs are by far the best outfitted soldiers in the world.

Navy SEALs operate in a variety of demanding and challenging circumstances. what is known as a 'wet-deck' as they are not meant for shelter, rather as a means to expedite travel time to destination points.

This has been a basic over-view of some of the declassified gear that is available to the US Navy SEALs.
